I got a call from the BC Cancer Agency Wednesday afternoon. They are sending me for an MRI scan now. I realize that the MRI is better at identifying staging and putting together a more accurate treatment plan, but it would have been nice if I had been given my results from Monday's CT first. Getting a call out of the blue that they want more tests doesn't help to ease my mind. Not to mention, the requesting doctor is someone I've never heard of before, and the appointment was booked by someone from the agency, so it's all a little impersonal. They just book you in for an appointment and give you no information. Not the best approach if they are trying to improve the patient experience, as my organization is so quick to highlight.
Apparently I have an appointment at BC Cancer Agency, but I have yet to get a call to find out about it. The booking clerk who called me said I was scheduled to see him ... but she didn't give me any other information, as her job was just to schedule the MRI appointment. I'm definitely not impressed with the patient journey thus far.
It's amazing how I went from being upbeat and positive about my situation, thinking that it was no more than stage 2, and then suddenly I get one phone call for another scan, and my fears resurfaced. So I am going to breathe and let my logical brain try to take over again. I need to remember ... "An MRI just gives more detailed information. It does not mean that the situation is worse." Maybe it would've just been easier if they had ONLY done the MRI and not bothered with the CT at all. Just breathe and relax. One day at a time.
In the meantime, I'm still trying to complete my bathroom renovation. All the waterproof system and drywall is mostly completed. We still need to mud and sand, but that will happen after the electrical for the under floor heating is done so we can put the last piece of drywall up. Slow and steady wins the race ... on all fronts.
