Getting prepared ...

Cancer-fighting foods & supplements - Dr. AxeI finally got my CT scan scheduled for tomorrow (Monday). I had to call the medical imaging department at NRGH since they were 2 days late calling me. He said my requisition was second from the top and he would've called me shortly, but who knows? Anyway, the scan will at least give me the information I've been waiting for on stage and localization. I'm still feeling pretty confident and believe I'm taking all the steps I can to create an environment in my body that makes it impossible for the disease to grow. Time will tell.

One of the most positive aspects of this experience is I've heard from many people that I haven't spoken to in quite some time. Often life gets in the way of connecting with people, so it's been fantastic to catch up with so many people.

I picked up some coconut oil yesterday, and starting to prepare my skin for the impending radiation treatment that I'm sure will start within a few weeks. I'm also looking at what natural products (other than cannabis with THC) will help with nausea and loss of appetite. I've read that those are common side effects, so in order to prevent myself from getting too weak and suffering too much weight loss, I want to be prepared. (Granted, I can afford to lose a few pounds, but just not while I need the energy to help fight the disease).

Many people recommend pre-cooking meals and put them in the freezer for when you're not feeling up to cooking. I might make a few meals, but I plan to eat as much fresh, raw food as possible - vegetables, fruits, nuts, etc. I might make a batch of cabbage soup and freeze some. My sister made this a few months ago, and it is so healthy (only 50 calories per bowl) and delicious:

1 onion chopped
1 small head cabbage chopped in large pieces
3 chopped carrots
3 chopped stalks celery
28oz jar chopped tomatoes
4 cloves garlic
3 tbsp Apple cider vinegar
1 tbsp lemon juice
3 cups chicken broth low sodium
Directions: Place all ingredients in the Instant Pot. Place on manual High pressure for 15 minutes. You can add other vegetables to this recipe (green beans, edamame, zucchini, etc), and if you want added protein, add some meat, although I like it without any.
Our weather here has finally been sunny and warm the past couple of days. This morning I heard a variety of bird calls and some of our flowers are blooming already. Spring is definitely on its way. That is just what my brain needs! Here is a photo from yesterday while I was running errands.
